Lying not far from the main road linking the capital to the north of the country, the scenery here is fantastic and there are a variety of walks along the lake shore and up into the surrounding hills. A suitable alternative for those who do not have time to trek into the Fann Mountains and can also be extended to a scenic overnight stop in one of the lakeside cabins.

Explore the Fan Mountains
Setting off from your homestay on foot, you’ll walk down (approx. 45 mins) to the glistening Iskandar Kol lake to spend some time within the breathtaking scenery of the Fan Mountains. Iskandar Kol (2,200m) is named for Alexander the Great who, it is said, passed by here on his travels. Once at the lake, the scenery can be appreciated from its banks or over some tea at the on-site restaurant. A 10-minute uphill walk provides a lovely view over Iskandar Kol – where local holidaymakers sometimes take boats out onto the water – as well as a look at a waterfall and another lake known as ‘Snake Lake’. You can head back to the homestay for lunch or, alternatively, you may opt to enjoy lunch at the restaurant overlooking the lake. There is the option to head back out in the afternoon for some leisurely strolling around the village or elsewhere in the valley for those that wish.
