Located 45 minutes by seaplane from Male, the adult-only island of Komandoo is the quintessential tropical paradise. The small island is a mere 100m wide and 500m long, with beautiful white sandy beaches at each end, a 40-year-old coconut plantation in the centre of the island and is surrounded by a stunning lagoon with a nearby reef. It is situated on the northwest reef of Lhaviyani Atoll and is one of the most interesting diving areas in the Maldives, with over 45 diving sites within an hour’s boat ride and a top-level dive centre on the island. The accommodation on the island offers excellent standards of hospitality in a relaxed informal setting. There are a number of Beach Villas, some with jacuzzis, as well as Water Villas, built on wooden columns over the crystal waters of the south lagoon. As you would expect the cuisine here is of the very highest standard and there is a luxury spa in which to pamper yourself.
