There are very few lodges and accommodation options in the vicinity and the gateway town of Flores is approximately an hour's drive away. An overnight near or in the national park is worth it, particularly if wanting to try your luck at seeing the morning sun rise over the pyramids via a sunrise tour; as well as the being the site of magnificent ancient architecture, the park is also home to many species of wildlife, particularly spider monkeys, toucans and parrots and the resplendent quetzal as well as the rare and elusive jaguar.
