Overview
The most sparsely populated country in the European Union, Finland is an enigmatic blend of east and west. Covered by seemingly endless forests of pine, spruce and birch and still strongly influenced by its close proximity to neighbouring Russia, this stunningly pristine environment is home to no fewer than 37 national parks and a labyrinth of lakes and inlets numbering in their tens of thousands that stretch from the southern shores of the Gulf of Finland to the high fells of arctic Lapland. ...
Offering up a chance to answer the call of the wild, Finland presents the perfect spot to escape the world and enjoy some genuine Arctic experiences.
Lit by the shimmering curtains of the Northern Lights, these breathtakingly beautiful landscapes provide the perfect backdrops for husky sled safaris and snowmobile adventures, whilst the lands beyond the Arctic Circle present some of the last corners of unspoiled wilderness left on the European mainland.
Amongst the remote regions of Finnish Lapland you can soak up the rich culture of the Sámi reindeer herders, savour wild salmon and smoked reindeer and try your hand at ice fishing and husky mushing. An overnight stay beside the frozen waters of Lake Torassieppi also presents a chance to enjoy some Arctic ‘glamping’ in an Aurora Dome, whilst a night in a mobile cabin on Lake Inari provides the perfect setting to relish the glittering blanket of an Arctic night.
