Stretching over 4,300 kilometres along South America’s Pacific coastline, Chile is a land of startling contrasts and beautiful extremes. Embark on this luxury journey, travelling from the stark and inhospitable beauty of the Atacama Desert to the staggering Torres del Paine National Park, whilst staying in some of the best accommodation on the continent.
Begin exploring the historic architecture and meeting some locals in the capital, providing some balance to the remote, exclusive hotel stays to come. Then, fly up to the harsh, surreal landscapes of the Atacama in the north, the world’s driest desert. Here, you’ll stay in the small luxury desert hotel of Awasi, set outside the small town of San Pedro de Atacama exploring the vast surrounding landscapes with a private guide and 4WD for two days. In stark contrast, you’ll travel to the remote island of Chiloé for a couple of days to explore the archipelago’s culture and untouched forests, before flying south to the windswept beauty of Patagonia.
Explore the glistening glacial lakes and snow-capped mountains of Torres del Paine National Park in search of its majestic wildlife. After three nights at your Luxury Patagonian lodge, once listed under National Geographic’s ‘Unique Lodges of the World’, fly back to the capital and spend your last couple of nights indulging in fine dining at a beautiful boutique wine hotel set in Chile’s famed wine region, the Colchagua Valley.

Day 2 Santiago: Architecture, Viewpoints & Food Markets
After breakfast, you’ll head out with your guide to explore the city’s central markets giving you a flavour of the local cuisine and culture. Perusing the stalls, you’ll stop to talk to the stall owners and try a few specialities including fresh, exotic fruit juice and Chile’s national cocktail, the Pisco Sour, with a few seafood dishes straight from Chile’s extensive coastline. Then, moving on to the city’s central plaza, you’ll tour its colonial architecture, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, for an immersive lesson into the country’s history. Finish with a beautiful view over Santiago from San Cristobal Hill, before being taken back to your hotel.
Day 3 Santiago - San Pedro De Atacama
This morning, you'll taken to board a flight to Calama where your private guide and driver, which have been arranged at your disposal for the next three days, will be waiting to receive you. After being transferred to ultimate luxury hotel, the Relais & Chateau property of Awasi Atacama, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon and evening to unwind surrounded by stunning desert.
Day 4 The Atacama Desert: Otherworldly Landscapes
Following breakfast, and in your own time, you can out to explore the otherworldly landscapes and valleys of the world’s driest desert. After a consultation on the area, and taking your preferences, fitness level and mood into account, you’ll be paired with an expert guide and a private 4WD vehicle, who will be able to take you to your preferred sites.
Day 5 The Atacama Desert: Private Tailored Tours
A second full day provides the opportunity to head out on the lonesome desert roads once again, this time in the opposite direction to yesterday, exploring some of the natural wonders not yet seen. You can choose to take a packed lunch from the hotel’s kitchen and stay out all day, allowing you to reach further afield sites, or break up the day with some afternoon downtime and lunch back at the lodge in between morning and afternoon excursions. The day is completely flexible and tailored to your desires.
Day 6 San Pedro De Atacama – Chiloé Island
You’ll be driven back to the airport for an early morning flight to Puerto Montt, where you’ll meet your transfer through Chile’s stunning Lake District to the high-end Tierra hotel on the remote island of Chiloé, found in the heart of the rich, cultural archipelago. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the minimalist hotel and its surroundings.
Day 7 Chiloé Island: Private Forest, Lake & Waterfall Hike
Head out for a full day’s exploration of one of the island’s protected parks, a 20,000-hectare private conservation initiative. The day begins with a hike through its lush virgin forest with your local guide, as the trail leads you along a path of enormous mañio, tepues and cinnamon trees (some of which are more than 600 years old) to the refreshing Rio Bravo waterfall standing over 10 metres tall. Later, after lunch and some time to relax in the pure natural air, you’ll navigate the far reaches of the park that end at a splendidly peaceful lake. Arrive back to the hotel in the early evening in time for sunset in the outdoor, heated infinity pool overlooking the wildlife rich Pullao Wetland.
*Exact excursions are confirmed upon arrival. The above is given as a sample of the type of activities that can be included.
Day 8 Chiloé Island: Castro Cultural Boat Tour
Your tour by boat today focuses on the culture and history of the island, in the island capital of Castro. Visit the traditional stilt houses of the 16th-century city, recounting the historic tensions and blending of cultures between the islanders and the mainland. A stop at the picturesque Yumbel Market allows you to browse some of the items and products most typical to the archipelago – including chilote potatoes, giant garlic, basketry, fabrics and seafood - and learn about their economy and traditions. A visit to the coastal shipyard offers insight into this immensely important part of island life. During the course of the day there will also be two significant architectural stops: firstly at the San Francisco Church, the region’s main Catholic house of worship and a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and Nercón Church, a legacy of the renowned Chilota School of Wood Architecture, where the tour concludes. Arrive back to the hotel’s farm-to-table restaurant to enjoy a fresh plate of the daily catch from the local fishing community visited on your tour, with warmly lit panoramic views of the inland sea.

Spend the rest of the day settling into these spectacular surroundings.
Day 10 Torres Del Paine National Park: Boat & Hike Exploration
The full day voyage begins by boat along the ice cold, crystalline waters of the Cochrane River and lake basin. During this part of the excursion, camera at the ready, you’ll be presented with peaceful views of the forested mountains either side of you from the water. Later on, disembark and continue by foot along the southern slopes of the park, one of the main huemel habitats, hiking through the forests in search of wildlife, accompanied by birdsong. Your guide will find a particularly scenic spot in this quiet part of Chilean Patagonia to enjoy your picnic lunch, handmade by the hotel’s kitchen using fresh local produce.
*Exact excursions will be confirmed upon arrival. The above is given as a sample of the type of activities that can be included.
Day 11 Torres Del Paine National Park: Wildlife & Lagoons
After breakfast, set out on your second full day of activities on foot from the lodge across the vast steppe. There are two options: for twitchers, your guide can lead you on a morning hike to Laguna Cisnes (Swan Lagoon) home to one of the largest variety of birds in the area or, alternatively, you can march on the region bordering the Chacabuco River to an area known to be populated by pumas and guancos to learn about these land-dwelling creatures of the park. Return back to the lodge for lunch and a chance to soak in one of the outdoor hot tubs at the foot of the mountains. In the afternoon, cover more ground in the comfort of your overland vehicle searching out the various lagoons, such as Edita, Cisnes, Los Flamencos and Seca, around the confluence of the Baker and Neff rivers.

Here, your driver will be waiting to transfer you to one of Chile's most renowned wine regions, the Colchagua Valley. Enjoy some downtime at the end of your trip in style at the Lapostolle vineyard, winery and hotel nestled in the hills overlooking Chile’s spectacular Apalta Vineyards in the valley. Later, relax with a glass of the hotel’s own wine in the chic infinity pool overlooking the valley at sunset, before enjoying your final dinner of the trip.
Day 14 Colchagua Valley – Depart Santiago
Depending on your flight time, you may have the morning at leisure at the boutique wine hotel, before being picked up by your driver and taken back to the airport in Santiago, where your Chilean holiday concludes.

Making a Difference
Community Tourism
People and local communities have always been at the heart of Wild Frontiers and the travel experiences we offer. Through community tourism we have the opportunity to generate real positive impact, supporting people we visit through sustainable local development, and in turn help to alleviate poverty and protect culture and environments in often more vulnerable destinations. While doing so, our clients gain richer travel experiences and more meaningful connections with the people they meet.
Conservation and Climate Action
As a travel company, we hold a responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to sustainability, and work closely with local communities to support their efforts. By implementing initiatives such as carbon measuring, tree-planting, reducing single-use plastic and promoting eco-friendly practices, we can help mitigate the negative impacts of tourism on fragile ecosystems and local communities. Additionally, prioritising conservation efforts helps preserve natural habitats and wildlife, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the wonders of our planet.
Wild Frontiers Foundation
The Wild Frontiers Foundation aims to provide a platform to create awareness, raise money and deliver funding to projects in countries where we operate as a travel company. Through the foundation, we are able to channel money into grass roots projects, which we have either established ourselves or support through charity partners. These include initiatives focused around education, the empowerment of local people and community conservation.
