A tempting mix of breathtaking landscapes, luxury accommodation and delicious cuisine, Argentina is often described as the most ‘European’ country in South America and offers some of the luxury comforts you would find elsewhere in the world, albeit within a very exotic destination.
This extravagant trip begins in bustling Buenos Aires; home to tango, a stunning collection of neoclassical architecture and arguably some of the world’s finest steak restaurants. Feast on gourmet cuisine and relax at a deluxe wine lodge in the heart of the Andean foothills. The end of this upscale trip sees you back in Buenos Aires for your international flight back home or, alternatively, you could extend the itinerary with a couple of extra nights to enjoy the thundering waters of Iguazu Falls.

SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION
Estancia Los Potreros, Cordoba
Estancia Los Potreros is a 6,000-acre working cattle set in a beautiful reserve at the top of the Cordoba hills in the centre of Argentina. The estancia dates from 1574 when breeding mules for the silver mines in Peru was the principal activity. Today it is an idyllic retreat for horsemen and nature lovers. This organic working farm breeds Aberdeen-Angus cattle and Paso Peruano horses. It has been in the same Anglo Argentine family for four generations and sets the highest standards of accommodation, combining the pleasures of estancia life with exceptional riding. Accommodation on the farm is simple and very comfortable providing all the creature comforts. There are seven bedrooms all of which are individually and tastefully furnished, and all have their own private bathroom. Antiques abound and cooler winter nights are warmed by log fires and wood-burning stoves.
Eolo Lodge, El Calafate
Eolo is a boutique country lodge situated outside of the main town of El Calafate and built in a traditional Patagonian ranch fashion but with comfortable, modern luxuries making this a wonderfully remote place to stay where you really feel the sense of the wilds of Patagonia. There are 17 suites, each with different views of the Lago Argentino, La Anita valley, the Torres del Paine or the Rico branch. The rooms have warm, rustic décor; luxurious stone bathrooms; and central heating. There is a pool and sauna and a great restaurant plus many fantastic excursions with which to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Overall this is considered the most high-end option from which to experience El Calafate.
Casa De Uco, Mendoza
Casa de Uco is set on a lush green vineyard estate in the desert of Uco Valley, just under two hours’ drive south of Mendoza. There’s a smattering of wineries close by and Andean foothills to climb. There are sixteen elegantly designed rooms, including nine suites. Facilities include a spa offering vinotherapy and hydrotherapy treatments, sauna, steam room, outdoor pool, gym, tennis courts, stables, asado (barbecue) and games room. There are bikes to rent or you can hop on horseback to explore the vineyards. The hotel also boasts a fine dining restaurant and wine tasting bar.
Jardin Escondido, Buenos Aires
Nestled among tropical plants, this chic, colourful hotel is the former home of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and enjoys a privileged location in Palermo Soho. The seven individually decorated rooms feature elegant furniture and wooden floors with modern amenities. Some rooms include fireplaces and/or balconies. Breakfast is served in the laidback dining room. Other facilities include a cocktail bar, a library and a rooftop terrace. Guests can also enjoy the garden courtyard filled with exotic plants and with an outdoor solar-heated pool and a BBQ grill.
Chaltén Camp, El Chalten
The camp has a wonderful location for those whose main focus is Patagonia’s natural elements: far enough from the touristy entry town of El Chaltén for a bit of peace and quiet but close enough to access the trails. The main dome houses a dining area, lounge and cosy fire pit with a picnic area nearby and several hammocks dotted around the grounds. The camp offers a private and personable stay with only four domes (3 doubles/twins and 1 triple). Each dome is raised above the ground (and therefore not suitable for those with mobility issues) facing Fitz Roy, offering panoramic views of the surrounding forest. All are ensuite and come equipped with a wooden stove (to be lit by staff only), 12v electrical output, a USB charging port, and ample blankets. The double rooms may have twin or queen size beds.
