Health and Vaccinations 

There are no mandatory immunisations for travellers to Sweden though you should be up-to-date with Typhoid, Tetanus, Polio and Hepatitis A. Please note we are not medical professionals and so we highly recommend you seek advice from your local GP or travel centre as to the correct immunisations and preventative treatments. 

Currency 

In Sweden the official unit of currency is the Swedish Krona (SEK).

Cultural Sensitivity 

On our tours you will frequently interact with local people, each with their own distinct customs and traditions. We therefore ask you to be considerate and to treat them with respect. Your tour-leaders and guides will always be able to advise you accordingly.  

Language & Religion 

Swedish the official language of Sweden and almost the entire population speak it as a first language or second language. It belongs to the North Germanic language group and it is closely related to Swedish and Norwegian. Although English is spoken by many Swedes, it will be useful to learn a few languages and phrases before you travel, especially if travelling to more remote areas.  

Time 

Sweden is 1 hour ahead of GMT.

Food and drink 

Eat and drink to your heart’s content! Fish and reindeer feature heavily in the diet while vegetarians will have limited choices.
