The Maasai Mara is home to some of the largest populations of big cats on the continent, as well as rhinos, hyenas, crocodiles and more than 470 species of birds. Guests staying at Karen Blixen Camp enjoy safaris in the Mara North Conservancy. Day 8 EXPLORE THE MAASAI MARA
Your last full day of the trip can either be spent relaxing at the camp, or extra activities can be enjoyed for an additional cost such as visits to a traditional Maasai Manyatta, sundowner drinks trips and guided bush walks. Many visitors to the camp will also want to try one of the Mara's most iconic experiences, a sunrise hot air balloon trip followed by a Champagne breakfast in the bush. These must be pre-booked as spaces are very limited especially during high season.
Day 9 THE MAASAI MARA (NORTH CONSERVANCY) - NAIROBI

Day 9 THE MAASAI MARA (NORTH CONSERVANCY) - NAIROBI
Following an early morning game drive and breakfast back at camp you will then depart for the airstrip for the flight back to Nairobi and any onward travels where your tour ends.
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION
Karen Blixen Camp, Maasai Mara Conservancies
Named after the author of the iconic novel “Out of Africa”, Karen Blixen Camp offers a quintessentially romantic safari experience. This stylish and well-run camp has 22 tents which are comfortable and come with en-suite bathrooms boasting flush loos and solar heated water. Bedrooms are relatively small but have large shaded verandas at the front with canvas safari chairs and a large sofa. The main area of the lodge houses a lounge, bar and dining area, a swimming pool and a small wellness centre. Day and night game drives in the Mara North Conservancy are the main activity on offer and guests staying more than three nights can enjoy full day trips to the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi
Ole Sereni provides an ideal option as an upmarket stop in Nairobi without having to venture into the city centre. The 134 rooms of varying categories are all very well appointed with standard mod-cons and amenities and have views out towards the city or over the Nairobi National Park. The hotel has two restaurants with The Big Five offering formal dining whilst the Waterhole Snack Bar provides light bites. There is also a pool bar with a spectacular view for lazy afternoons in the sunshine. Although there are more luxurious hotel options in the city centre and out in Karen, Ole Sereni is probably the most high-end of Nairobi’s airport hotels.
Elephant Bedroom Camp, Samburu National Reserve
Occupying an idyllic location on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, Elephant Bedroom Camp is simple yet stylish with 12 spacious, rustic chic safari tents. Each has roll-up fronts and sides with surrounding views across the river; en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flush loos; and shaded decks which have outdoor seating and private plunge pools. Meals are enjoyed around a communal table in the dining area or out on the deck. Morning and afternoon game drives through the reserve are included and guests can add a range of activities including bush breakfasts and dinners, sundowner drinks and visits to a traditional Samburu village for an extra cost.
Satao Elerai, Amboseli National Park
Enjoy awe-inspiring views of Mount Kilimanjaro from every corner of Satao Elerai. Each luxury tent has been made from locally sourced materials featuring cedar wood floors, makuti thatch roofing and an ensuite bathroom with solar-powered hot water and a loo with a view. There are also a handful of lodge-style suites at the camp with even more space and a private veranda from which giraffes, zebra and elephants can often be spotted. In between activities guests can cool off in the infinity pool surrounded by calming landscapes of the camp’s 5,000-acre conservation area. Community visits can also be arranged and profits go towards funding the Satao Elerai Community and Wildlife Trust.
