Situated against the backdrop of the picturesque Mingsha Sand Dunes, the Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel takes its architectural cues from the past with large rooftops and long corridors and an enclosed courtyard style design with mud walls typical of the north western part of China. These features and the use of natural building materials, work together to recapture the flavour of a bygone era. The hotel is located three kilometres from the city centre and has a range of different rooms that blend modern style with Chinese architectural thought. All rooms have private facilities and views of the great Gobi Desert. Three restaurants serve a variety of Chinese, Asian and International cuisine. The hotel also has a steam bath and sauna.
